Terms
Terms.
Last updated: 6 September 2026
These are the terms you agree to when you book a detail with The Grime Scene. We have written them in plain English. If anything here does not sit right with you, call us on (530) 815-5357 before you book and we will talk it through.
Who we are
The Grime Scene is a mobile detailing business. We come to you — your home, your office, wherever the vehicle is. You can reach us at Rick@TGScene.com or (530) 815-5357.
Booking an appointment
You can book online or by phone. Online bookings need to be made at least 24 hours ahead, so that we can plan the route and bring the right products.
When you pick a time online, we hold that slot for 30 minutes while you finish booking. If you do not finish, the slot goes back into the diary and somebody else can take it.
Your appointment is confirmed when you receive the confirmation email. If that email does not arrive, check your junk folder and then call us — assume you are not booked until you have it.
Prices
The prices on the site are for the smaller vehicle size. Larger vehicles cost more, and the final price for your vehicle is worked out and shown to you before you confirm, not afterwards. Add-ons are priced individually and their time is added to the appointment.
Where sales tax applies it is shown separately before you confirm.
Some work cannot be priced sight-unseen. 2-Step Paint Correction is quoted over the phone, and heavily soiled vehicles, pet hair beyond the usual, or damage that needs extra work may need a revised price. If we think that applies to your vehicle, we will tell you before we start, and you are free to decline and pay nothing.
Paying
You can pay online when you book, or pay at the appointment.
If you pay online when you book, you get 5% off. That is our thank-you for the certainty — it means the slot is genuinely committed.
Online payments are handled by Stripe. You type your card details on Stripe's own secure page; they never pass through this website, and we never see or store your card number.
If you are paying at the appointment, payment is due when the work is finished.
The referral programme
After your first booking you get a personal referral code. When a friend books their first detail using it, you get 10% off your own booking — the one you just made — so there is no waiting around for a credit you might forget about.
Referral rewards have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for cash, and cannot be combined with themselves. Your friend must be a genuinely new customer. We may withhold a reward if a code is being used in a way that is plainly not word-of-mouth.
Changing or cancelling
You can move or cancel your appointment yourself using the link in your confirmation email, up to 24 hours before the start time. You can move an appointment twice; after that, give us a call and we will sort it out.
Inside 24 hours, call us. We would much rather hear from you than have you not be there.
We do not charge a cancellation fee. We ask only that you give us as much notice as you can, because a missed slot is a slot nobody else could book.
If you have already paid online and you cancel, contact us and we will arrange your refund. Refunds are not automatic — a person handles each one — and they go back to the card you paid with, which usually takes a few working days to appear.
If we have to cancel
Occasionally we will need to move an appointment: severe weather, a vehicle breakdown, illness. We will tell you as soon as we know and offer you the next available slot. If you have paid and you would rather not rebook, we refund you in full.
What we need from you
Please make sure the vehicle is accessible and legally parked where we can work on it safely, and that we can get the keys if we need them. If we need water or power at your location, we will tell you when you book.
Please take valuables and personal items out of the vehicle before we arrive. We take care, but we cannot be responsible for items left inside.
If we arrive and cannot safely reach the vehicle, or nobody is there to give us access, we will call you. If we cannot reach you and have to leave, we may treat it as a missed appointment.
Our work
We take real care with your vehicle and we use products suited to the surfaces we are working on.
Detailing cleans and protects; it does not repair. Existing scratches, chips, dents, oxidation, worn trim, cracked leather, stains that have set, and damage under dirt may not come out, and cleaning can sometimes make existing damage easier to see. Where we spot something like that, we will point it out rather than quietly work around it.
If you are not happy with the work, tell us within 48 hours and we will come back and put it right where we reasonably can. That is the fairest way to deal with it, and it is what we would want ourselves.
Our responsibility
We carry out our work with reasonable skill and care. If something goes wrong and it is our fault, we will put it right or refund you. Except where the law says otherwise, our responsibility for any one appointment is limited to the amount you paid for that appointment.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under California consumer law that cannot be limited.
Turning away work
We may decline or reschedule a booking — for example if a vehicle is unsafe to work on, if the location is not workable, or if a customer is abusive to our crew. If we decline and you have already paid, you get a full refund.
Changes to these terms
We may update this page. The version that applies to your booking is the one published when you booked. If we change something significant, we will say so here and update the date at the top.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
